Oncologic Imaging of the Abdomen

Course informationThe course is aimed at senior residents, board-certified radiologists and fellows interested in abdominal oncologic imaging. Diagnostic criteria, staging principles and clinical role of imaging in liver, pancreatic, colorectal, renal and prostate cancer will be presented. A particular focus will be on the applications of the latest technical advances and new European guidelines for imaging. Internationally renowned European experts will ensure a high-quality teaching programme combining plenary lectures and workshops allowing for interactive case discussion.

Learning objectives
  • to present an update on current imaging protocols for the detection and characterisation of some of the most important/frequent neoplastic diseases of the abdomen
  • to learn more about the imaging features relevant to clinical decision-making in such patients
  • to explain the clinical significance of early tumour detection and the necessity of accurate staging for appropriate therapy planning and correct estimation of prognosis
  • to discuss the role of imaging in therapy monitoring, restaging and follow-up of selected abdominal neoplasms
  • to introduce the new European guidelines for hepatocellular carcinoma
