Course information

This course is aimed at residents in their 4th and 5th year of training in radiology and recently board-certified radiologists interested in Cardiac Imaging. It is strictly adhered to Level II of the European Training Curriculum. The main purpose of this course is to familiarise radiologists with the latest technical and methodological advances and with a systematic approach to selected, timely clinical problems in Cardiovascular Imaging. The course will address six clinical topics and how they can be approached by modern cardiovascular imaging including Cardiac CT and Cardiac MR- Every topic will be presented by a 40 minutes lasting mix of theory and case presentations. Each session will be followed by a live Q&A section for interaction with the faculty members.

Learning objectives

  • to learn about the possibilities of plaque characterization and stenosis quantification by means of coronary CT angiography
  • to become familiar with functional assessment of ischemic heart disease
  • to understand the role of cardiac CT and MR in the management of acute chest pain
  • to learn about the key role of Cardiac MR in the characterization of myocardial diseases
  • to become familiar with the relevance and the assessment of an enlarged right ventricle
  • to get in introduction of modern imaging in valvular diseases
