Patient Communication in Radiology
November – December 2025
online
Great imaging is only part of the picture
Behind every image is a person. As healthcare professionals, our responsibility is to ensure they feel informed, understood, and supported at every stage of their journey.
Through three online sessions, this programme will offer practical tips, expert insights, and fresh perspectives to help you strengthen communication with patients, referrers, and colleagues – and embrace the evolving role of the radiologist in modern healthcare.
These webinars are developed in collaboration with the ESR PAtient Advisory Group and are available for free for all ESR members.
What to expect
Across the sessions, you will gain actionable insights on effective communication tailored to radiology settings. Expect tips and best practices for informing patients before, during, and after procedures, delivering sensitive information with empathy, and ensuring clear, concise explanations in plain language. Learn how to work effectively with referrers, structure reports for clarity, and manage expectations to reduce anxiety and improve cooperation. Discussions will also address the evolving identity of radiologists, the integration of AI tools, opportunities and risks of social media, and the importance of humanising care. By the end, you will be equipped with techniques to bridge technical expertise with patient-centred communication.
